TECHNOLOGY
Our results center around a color changing reaction (colorimetric assay). The color change indicates presence, via amplification, or absence of the RNA of interest. In the case of our Hops Latent Viroid (HpLVd) test this RNA is related to the viroids life-cycle and its presence will change our solution from pink to yellow. This signifies a positively detected infection.
WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR OUR TESTS?
Evidence suggests that while HpLVd is systemic it does not uniformly distribute itself among the plants. Portions of the same plant can have very high viroid loads while other segments appear asymptomatic. For the most accurate results please send several leaf samples (up to 4) from around the plant.
Please do NOT send in any root samples. They are not ideal for our tests.
